He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Antwerp as Master of Laws. Immediately afterwards, he started as a lawyer at the Antwerp Bar Association, now the Antwerp Province Bar Association.

Gedurende zijn studies ontwikkelde hij reeds een bijzondere interesse voor Familierecht, Familiaal Vermogensrecht, Algemeen Burgerlijk Recht en Strafrecht. Deze interesse bouwde hij verder uit in zijn carrière als advocaat door zich in deze materies verder te specialiseren.
