Bannister Department of Family Law expands: let's meet Eveline Delfosse
Eveline Delfosse started at the beginning of May as an associate in Steven Van Geert's department. Her choice to specialize in family law appears to be no coincidence, Eveline has a clear vision on relationships and as a bridge builder pur sang she is the ideal asset to our office.
Hi Eveline, welcome! I was told you chose family law very consciously. Do tell!
Eveline: "That's right. I have always been intrigued by relationships between people, on a human level but also how they are shaped legally. Family law is a matter that is closely tied to people's lives and how they fill out their family lives.
I already knew that I wanted to go into the legal profession after my studies, because I get great satisfaction from contacts with clients and you can really make a difference for them. Especially in family law, you get to know people at a time when their lives are changing dramatically. To support people at such a critical time in their lives, you have to be involved, build a relationship of trust and, above all, be conciliatory. That is what I like to dedicate myself to, especially when children are involved.
Did you consciously choose Bannister for a moment?
Eveline: "Yes! What immediately attracted me were the teams: young people with a lot of healthy ambition. I also really like being able to focus on family law, but thanks to the contact with the other departments I can also stay informed about other branches of law. The fact that everyone focuses on their personal preferred subject matter and you can still exchange ideas with each other, I find super."
Why are you the ideal addition to the department?
Eveline: "All three of us are fascinated by family law and are committed to finding the best possible solution for our clients, that's for sure. After my first month with the team, I have the impression that our personal strengths and knowledge complement each other well in that area.
During my master's studies in Antwerp and Maastricht, I chose to study international law, including human rights and sustainable development. That study ensures that in addition to a thorough grounding in Belgian family law, I also have a good understanding of the broader international and human rights framework. I definitely find that an added value in practice.
Steven and Véronique have both gained years of valuable practical experience and special training, so I can learn a lot from them. We can always come to each other to exchange thoughts on files and, in addition, they are also very nice colleagues."
